Week three! I hope everyone is creating away. As we all (or most of us) know, femslash can gravitate to rarer fandoms, and there's also the yuri - femslash divide. In the interests of making sure everyone knows the basics of the fandom that you're creating in, I would love for everyone that feels comfortable doing so to talk about their fandom.
It would be the best thing ever to find new media sources to play around with! For example, I discovered Puella Magi Maodka Magica after someone signed up for it here. I'm not the most anime-savvy person on the planet either, so I always appreciate recs.
Like usual, we want to try to make it comfortable for everyone. So, those who are comfortable with structure, please feel free to use the template. Anyone who's not comfortable with structure, please go freeform! This is an anything-goes kind of post.

Date: 2011-06-24 06:25 pm (UTC)I chose it because: I've been in a really big Sailor Moon kick over the last year or so and I felt like having some fun writing a long story in this universe, though I've never really done it before (with the exception of my first fanfiction, which was Otaku Senshi fanfic, which kinda doesn't count). It's also contains my favorite f/f pairing and so it was a no brainer that I wanted to write a fic about them. Plus I got the idea of the road trip in my head and it wouldn't let go.
Favorite pairing or pairings: Haruka/Michiru and Kunzite/Zoisite
What do you think would entice people into your fandom: Yeah, it's a fairly old anime, but I think it really is what got a lot of people into anime even though the dub was horrible. But what I think what would really get people into the fandom is that the manga is going to be re-leased this fall, starting in September and each volume will be released every two months after that. This new release is going to be the same as the most recent Japanese re-release which includes color inserts, plus it has cleaned up artwork, probably a better translation than the Tokyo Pop one had, and will be in right to left format. There will be twelve volumes in all, I believe, plus two collections of shorter stories.
PLUS, they're going to be releasing for the first time in the US the prequel manga to Sailor Moon, Codename: Sailor V. The two volumes will be released in September and November along with the first two volumes of Sailor Moon.
As for the anime, it's not licensed anymore in the US and unless someone picks up the anime again (which may happen, especially if the manga sells well - there have also been rumors that Funimation may pick it up), you'd probably have to uh, pirate it somehow or pay more money than I would pay to buy the out of print DVDs. Plus the fifth season never made it to North America, so that doesn't even have the option of buying out of print DVDs. So I desperately hope that someone will pick up the anime license so I can buy it on DVD.
Do you have any favorite creations (your own or others) that you want to share? Currently, I've been following This Sweet Madness. I have a soft spot for fanfic about the Shitennou (what one would think of as Queen Beryl's commanders - bad guys in the first arc/season of Sailor Moon), which is what this fanfic focuses on for the most part. As for stuff I've created, you can find a lot of ficlets that I've written here. Oh and there's a poem there too.
Any good communities or other sites for your fandom? I often use WikiMoon.org for referencing stories and there are various other websites I use for images and such, but it's been a while since I've been there. The main community for Sailor Moon here on DW is, of course,
Anything else you want to add? Not much other than that it was my first anime and I don't think I'll ever stop loving it. Oh and my favorite seasons are the 1st and 3rd seasons. I'd put an amusing picture here related to my fandom, but I don't have one available. I do have amusing icons though.
