Admin Announcement & Week 5 Word Count Check-In
First things first... I'd like to say that the weekly mod posts that were originally going to alternate between your mods are being cut back some, due to RL health and surgery issues for
havocthecat.
thelittlebang is still going strong, she just might not have as visible a presence as initially planned for the next while.
This also means that the beta/cheerleader match-ups may take a little longer than initially planned. We are hoping to have that completed before the end of the month for all of you.
In other news, we're 1/3 of the way through the initial creative phase, and it's time for a word count check. To go with the three months of creation idea, that' means everyone should be somewhere around 5k words completed at this point. If you're more than that, more power to ya! If you're less than that, it's not the end of the world.
I will freely admit that I haven't even started mine yet.
So, how's everyone doing on their projects? Are your muses cooperating? Getting a lot of words written? Hit a brick wall on the creativity front?
And for the check-in itself, I'm going to borrow a template from
sentinelbigbang, because it works out really nicely, and turn it into a textarea box for you to c/p. You don't have to use the template if you don't want to. Feel free to modify as needed.
Feel free to share some details about your project, maybe a summary or some hints, but please don't post actual extracts. We may have a post for that sort of thing later on down the line.

Your project: Doctor Who: rose/Sarah Jane
Current progress/word count: ~1800
What I like about the project: I get to play with Sarah's past and Rose's future. +snerk+
What I don't like about the project: Ehh, had this plot for a couple years more than River's existed, but it sort of mimics her living inverted to the Doctor.
Anything else you want to say (e.g. Do you need any help? Lacking inspiration or need a sounding board? Want to rant a little?): Just need to clear some other things, and it will be full steam ahead.

Your project: Awesome Lesbian Road Trip story with Haruka and Michiru from Sailor Moon
Current progress/word count: Uh, haven't started writing yet and still trying to plan it. I mean, I have been doing planning it. I just need to first settle the final plan for their journey (I have all but one of the cities figured out). Then I have to figure out what happens in each city and on the trips between each city.
What I like about the project: The fact that I can create hilarious youma based on the locations they appear at. Like gambling based ones because the final battles take place in Las Vegas.
What I don't like about the project: That it's involving a lot of prep. ^^;
Anything else you want to say (e.g. Do you need any help? Lacking inspiration or need a sounding board? Want to rant a little?): I would like help brainstorming ideas for the current prep phase. A lot of how far I've gotten is was with the help of a friend of mine who was very helpful in starting off my idea generating and if it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't even be as far as I am.

Your project: Power Rangers: Vida Rocca/Tori Hanson
Current progress/word count:: 4,900 and change, though I still haven't hooked them up. -_-
What I like about the project: I'm having fun with some worldbuilding that explains bits of canon.
What I don't like about the project: The fact that I need the build-up to get these two together. I mean, it's fun and certainly helps the word count, but it would be fun to be able to riff off some canon encounters.
Anything else you want to say (e.g. Do you need any help? Lacking inspiration or need a sounding board? Want to rant a little?): Well, I got hung up a bit on how DJs can move around, but thank god for little_details. Ideally, I could almost use someone who speaks Greek, Latin and Welsh, but if I can find a way to work Irish in, at least that'll be used correctly. And I should finish reading up on Samurai and Ninjas. Thankfully, I already have some made-up worlds from a different WiP that can do double duty in this fic.

Your project: Star Trek's Beverly Crusher and Kathryn Janeway, married in space, curtain-replicating (they probably wouldn't buy them) babyfic.
Current progress/word count: 7264
What I like about the project: I love pregnant lesbians. It's stupidly fun for me. I don't really have a plot but I am so happily in the giddy phase that I don't care. (much) I have OCs, who are really indulgent and fun for me. I love OCs.
What I don't like about the project: The fact that I need to get a plot, or baddies, or something. Maybe something with Romulans? Baby may just be the plot....are there plot police?
Anything else you want to say (e.g. Do you need any help? Lacking inspiration or need a sounding board? Want to rant a little?): There's a distinct chance this will turn into "Kathryn learns she doesn't have to be in charge of everything all the damn time, Beverly balances just about everything without having a meltdown (sort of) and guest stars I like appear". Without a plot. Maybe with a jellyfish plot. (slow, floaty, emotionally based fic that ends up a bit further into the ocean than it started).
I may actually be okay with that.

Your project: Avatar (2009 movie), Trudy/Grace; began as an "everybody thinks they're girlfriends" fic, but the plot has expanded, as it so often does to me. :D
Current progress/word count: ... 11,000. But only about 6k of that is consecutive scenes that are in order and complete! So really I'm right on track.
What I like about the project: Well, as evinced by the amount of stuff that isn't in order, I have a fairly good idea where the story is going to end up, because I've already written a bunch of chunks for the middle and the end. So that's good! And I do have an outline, haphazard as it is. Plus I am enjoying writing it, to a completely ridiculous degree.
What I don't like about the project: I may have begun to rewrite the movie. For the second time. /o\ Also, having most of it concurrent with the movie timeline means I have to keep watching chunks of the movie over and over again. :P
Anything else you want to say (e.g. Do you need any help? Lacking inspiration or need a sounding board? Want to rant a little?): I think I'm all set as far as inspiration goes. I do wish
